Red Velvet Cupcakes Recipe

Love red velvet cupcakes? Here is the step by step guide on how to make them effortlessly from scratch!


350 g baking flour
1 tsp bicarbonate of soda
2 tbsp cocoa powder
315 g caster sugar
1 tsp baking powder
250 ml buttermilk
185 ml vegetable oil
2 tsp white vinegar
2 eggs
250 g cream cheese
3 tsp red food color
1 tsp vanilla extract
100 g butter
195 g icing sugar


·         Preheat the oven to 180 degrees. Take a 12-hole muffin pan and line using paper liners.
·         In a large mixing bowl, pour the flour, bicarbonate of soda, cocoa powder and baking powder and add in the sugar. Make a well in the middle.
·         Take the eggs, oil, butter milk, vinegar and the red food color and mix in a separate bowl. Pour this mixture into well you made in the flour mixture above. Using a hand mixer or an electric mixer beat until well combined.
·         Divide the batter among the 12 muffin pan holes and bake for 20 to 25 minutes. Remove the Red velvet cupcakes and leave to cool on a wire rack.

·         Make the frosting by mixing the cream cheese frosting, icing sugar, vanilla and butter until smooth. Pour the icing over the cupcakes. Enjoy!
